Dental implants are artificial replacements for their own teeth. Today it is mostly an artificial titanium root that is inserted into the jaw bone during surgery. The goal is to replace the root of the natural tooth to restore the dentition of the patient, either from a functional point of view or from an aesthetic point of view. The dental implant then acts as an anchor that holds a new, artificial tooth in the right place.
Implants are used to replace one or more teeth, such as a pillar under a fixed or scanning dental replacement or for orthodontic purposes. A condition for implantation is the healthy gums and enough bone in the jaw to maintain it. In case you do not have enough quality bones, it can be solved by so-called augmentation. It is a form of bone graft application to complete a new bone in the jaws.
